Bilstein use monotube dampers for applications where performance is key. Monotube dampers offer several advantages. Unlike the more commonly used twin-tube dampers, the oil inside the damper all stays in one compartment. It isn't mixing with gas either. This means it isn't susceptible to foaming. The monotube design also doesn't heat it up nearly as much. Because the inside of the damper unit is all one tube, you've got a wider damper to work with offering smoother, better-controlled damping.

Bilstein are masters of the art of setting dampers up to give a firm, controlled ride, without being harsh or uncomfortable. B14s are fixed damping rate, but Bilstein thoroughly test their kit both on demanding tracks and on real European roads, so these should be an excellent balance between comfort and handling.

Onto these dampers Bilstein mount height adjustable springs. Just as they are experts at fine-tuning damper rates, Bilstein also know how to match springs and dampers so as to provide an ideal balance between comfort/ride-quality and grip.

One of the challenges facing coilovers is that to be adjustable they need threaded sections, and threads and adjusters can corrode and seize up. To combat this, Bilstein use their own Triple-C anti-corrosion coating. This resists corrosion from road salt extremely well. They also use rounded thread sections which are easy to turn.

*After any adjustment to a vehicles ride height it is recommend the vehicle’s geometry is checked and re-aligned using suitable equipment. Failure to do can result in excessive and uneven tyre wear and in extreme cases even affect the vehicles handling.
